Why Hypnotherapy?

Maybe you’re wondering… Victoria, where’d all this talk about hypnotherapy come from?

What even is hypnotherapy?

And what does any of this have to do with diversity, equity & inclusion?!

I love this question.

I like to think of hypnotherapy as a bridge between who we are and who we aspire to be!

But like the express EZPass bridge that gets you somewhere quickly and efficiently.

Have you ever wondered why it’s so hard to put a new routine or belief or behavior into practice?

It’s because our conscious mind is responsible for less than 5% of our brain functions.

Hypnotherapy allows access to a depth and part of us that traditional talk therapy or coaching can’t access — underneath our conscious mind and rational thinking. It allows healing and rewiring at the source, instead of on the surface like a bandaid.

Hypnotherapy is the bridge between reading a script from a parenting coach and embodying the words when I deliver them to my kiddo.

It’s the difference between playing the role of parent and being the parent.

Hypnotherapy is the bridge between reading an antiracist book (or 100 antiracist books!) ‘listening and learning’ but still struggling to change behavior and embodying your antiracist values in action.

The difference between aspiring ally and active antiracist.

Imagine if you had to remember to breathe and blink all day every day. You’d never be able to do anything!

This is the same thing. We can’t depend on our conscious mind for deep behavior change. That’s simply not its best role!

That’s where hypnotherapy comes in.

It allows us to bridge our conscious desire to change our behaviors with our subconscious wiring of our behavior patterns.

You may desperately want to surrender perfectionism but without bringing in the part of you that feels safe making mistakes, it’s going to be an uphill battle.

Similarly with parenting. I may desperately want to be a more gentle parent, but without inviting in the part of me that feels unsafe when kids’ feelings get really big, I will always default back to the old program of yelling or time outs.

Hypnotherapy feels like magic, because it surpasses our understanding of what’s possible. It feels like magic because it works so effectively, and with relative ease, and in small windows of time. And honestly I think magic is fun, so I love to call hypnotherapy magic because it feels so magical! But it’s not actually magic. It’s a wise, spiritual, connected modality that supports our deepest healing and expansion.

It is a bridge towards the person you’re becoming and an incredibly effective tool for us to get there.
